Ger Sweeney is a freelance broadcaster with 3 decades of experience behind the microphone. In March of 1981 at the age of 14 his passion for radio and broadcasting was realised and since then it has become legendary. His enthusiasm for, and understanding of his audience ensures that Ger develops a very unique relationship with his listener. It’s a personal relationship and one that has resulted in the name Ger Sweeney being one of the most recognisable names in radio wherever he has worked.

Through the years Ger Sweeney has proven himself to be versatile and very comfortable in the many and diverse programmes he has produced and presented.

Ger has always connected with his listener and in his fulltime radio days he was generally the man that was “sent out” when a radio station needed to have a presence in various communities. His ability to perform in front of a crowd and not just in a studio has meant that Ger has covered many thousands of miles in the course of his duties.  His comfortable presentation and ability to engage audiences and guests has resulted in him being in regular demand to act as Host or MC for many high-profile events.

In recent years Ger Sweeney has been heard on various radio stations having voiced commercials, promotions, independent programmes and documentaries as well as voicing some DVDs for international clients. He generated the majority of this work himself as part of what he did when he owned and ran his own production company called Production 63. The majority of the company’s business involved live performances but there were rare occasions when he could pop back into the studio….and the passion flowed instantly.

Ger returned to a daily presentation with his own creation – GSFM in 2010. The word spread quickly and he rapidly re-established his voiceover and freelance work. His ability to embrace the various media and distribute his work efficiently has brought his name and ability to the attention of broadcasters and members of the public from various parts of the world.

GSFM came about following his experiments with Podcasting. Ger believes that the broadcasting wheel is already invented and no matter what technological advances come along the idea of (radio) broadcasting cannot be re-invented. It can, however be tailored to embrace the opportunities that present themselves with new technology and new media such as Digital, Social Networking Sites, Podcasting  and all advances yet to come. GSFM brought all of these together in a unique and successful way. Something conventional broadcasters have aspired to for some time.
